iTunes

Q: Itunes update

Hello,

I am trying to update my ITunes. When I trying doing it in ITunes nothing happens.

When I try via windows I get a message "The Apple Software Update Server could not be found.

Check your internet settings and try again"

I have windows 10.

I have turned off my firewall.

My windows software is up to date.

Does anyone have a fix too this.

If you see the error message: "The Apple Software Update server could not be found. Check your Internet settings and try again." open Control Panel > Network and Sharing > Internet Options > Advanced > Security and uncheck "Do not save encrypted pages to disk".

Thanks for your reply.

My concern about downloading is if it would delete all my IPhone back up and other things I have in the current ITunes??

The process is more or less the same whether you use Apple Software Update or download the installer manually. Device backups are preserved and your library should be unaffected by the upgrade. In the rare cases where it is (which can happen whichever method you use) the repair steps are given in Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash.

That said I would still suggest you make the suggested change to ensure ASU works normally in future.
