Some users have this problem... You need to check first.

    Settings>>general>>Accessibility>>Home Button

and Disable Rest Finger to Open.... Then this works...

    Apple,

Pls check doing the same test with enable and disable Home Button... If you have a problem..pls fix in the next patch...

SOLUTION: I was having the same issue too. Here is the solution. You need to change your phone back to the old "Home" button first so you can take screenshots.

Get the old home button back  Click Open Settings > General > Accessibility > Home Button. At the bottom of the page is a switch titled "Rest Finger to Open." Slide it to the On position.

After you will continue to take screenshots the same way you did before iOS 10 by click next home and standby.

Sorry, there seems to be a bigger issue with this for some people.  I have- hard rebooted and Reset all Setting.  Either of these have corrected this issue.

    Any other ideas?  Thanks.

I confirm that it no longer work as it used to do. Before, you pressed the home button, held it and then pressed briefly the power button. Now, it somewhar bugs.

To make it work again, you need to press simultaneously and very briefly both buttons.

Less convenient -it requires more agility- but it works.

After doing all of the suggestions, I still have a problem.  1 out of 5 times I can get a screen shot.  Very glitchy. Ugh!

Solution UPDATE :OK want to update AND Clarify my previous comment and say this. It depends what phone you are running iOS 10 on as to how you fix this and if there is anything that needs to be fixed. For the 6S and 6S PLUS you DO NOT need to make any changes in Settings. You just continue to take the screenshot by clicking Home and standby. However if you have a iPhone 6 or 6 plus you WILL have to make the changes in Settings to your HOME Button.

Click Open Settings > General > Accessibility > Home Button. At the bottom of the page is a switch titled "Rest Finger to Open." Slide it to the On position.

After you will continue to take screenshots the same way you did before iOS 10 by click next home and standby.

What about iPad Air2?  This is the device where I am having the problem.  I have not updated my iPhone to iOS10 until I get the iPad issues resolved.

Also those who have an iPad 4 and older versions of IPad will need to Make this adjustment above on their devices to get them to take screenshots

Thanks.  I did do it.  Still very glitchy!  Hopefully Apple will address in an update.

This is true, I used to hold the power button first and then the home button right after and do it; with 10 you have to do them both at the same time quickly OR you can do the opposite, hold home button first and then the power button (both done in fast sequence.) It takes some practice but is easy once you get it!  Don't know why they had to mess with this.
