Q: Apple Watch Series 2 preorder delivery date error?

So I preordered the Apple Watch Series 2 on Sept 9 (at 12:15am PST). Was there ever an option to pick this up at the store? I didn't see that option available, so I chose to have it shipped. The order screen said it would deliver within 6-8 business days (meaning it should arrive Sept 19-21. However my account says it will deliver by Sept 26-28...? I'm a bit confused, as I've done this several years in a row now. Is this a glitch? Or did the Series 2 watches sell out instantly? And was the pick up option ever available on the preorder day?

I have an appointment to pick up my iPhone 7 Plus on launch day (iPhone upgrade program) and I was wondering if I could just pick up an Apple Watch while I was there? Just curious. Thanks for any info!

Delivery dates can change. You should get a confirmation email when it ships. That's the information I'd trust the most.

Whether or not you can pick up a watch on the day you pick up your phone will whether or not they have the particular model you want in stock.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, agreed that the confirmation email will be tell the most accurate date. I've just never seen a delivery date change in my experience, and I wasn't sure if the Apple Watches (Stainless Steel Model) sold out instantly. I was also curious if the pick up option was ever available during preorder...

I've seen delivery dates change occasionally.

I was just suggesting that, when you get to the store, you ask them if they have the model watch you want available for immediate purchase. Depending on what you were interested in, they might.

i called Apple.  I'm told there was no option to pick up at store because they weren't anticipating inventory at the stores on the one selected.  Mine was different colors but you'd think basic black would have been available.  I'm also told if  shows shipping in 6-8 days that yours and mine is supposed to be some of the first ones shipped, however they are shipping standard ground from California and those are the dates it thinks the product will arrive at your house (at the latest).  I asked what are options to expedite shipping and I'm told that isn't available (it is what it is).  Oh, and I waited 44 minutes on hold to be told that.

I pre ordered an Apple Watch 2 on 9/9/16 (space gray aluminum and black band ) and the delivery date shows October 10 -21st, over a month from now.  Will they be available in stores before this date?

No one here in this user-to-user forum would know that. And, there's a good chance that the people who work in the Apple Stores won't know from day to day what they will have.

I also preordered on 09/09 at 12:26am PST.  I also saw the ship date of 6-8 days (which seemed ok at the time).  Mine currently says the same of Sept 26-28.  There is no option to pick up in store until this Friday the 16th.  I called Apple and they said the watches are shipping from overseas and that's the best estimate they have.  They suggested I cancel the order and then reorder on Friday with an in store pickup.  That's most likely not going to happen.  I'm really hoping they are just doing the typical Apple thing of under promise and over deliver and we're going to get shipping notifications later today or tomorrow for a Friday delivery.  But that doesn't seem likely at this point.

I ordered the night of the pre order at 12:01 just to get it on launch day. Apples pre order is BS now, I dont know what they are doing but it doesn't look like we are getting our watches on launch day

Had the same issue. Apple just charged my card 45 minutes ago, and now my order status is "Preparing for Shipment," so hopefully it is on its way. But unless they're using overnight shipping, there is no way I'm getting it tomorrow.

Same thing just happened to me. Hopefully they are using overnight shipping and will pull through for us.

Apple has a serious pre-order / pick up in store problem that they need to address. There is no reason my delivery date via Apple should be Oct 28, but via Best Buy Sept 28. As suggested my numerous others, I thought I'd go to the website as both employees and others have suggested and select pick up at store. It's 11:10 on the East Coast and the Pick Up In-Store option is still not available on the website.
    Another release botched, Apple.

Yeah, the preorder for the Apple Watch seems like a mess. No option for in-store pick up, and there aren't any available even at the Apple Store...?

I did get a text from Apple this morning saying mine has shipped effective today 9/16.   Estimated delivery is 9/21 via UPS 2-3 day service...not 9/16 but not 9/26-9/28 either.
