Thanks for joining Apple Support Communities, Randhika.

It appears that your Notifications aren't reaching the lock screen on your iPhone 5s upgraded to iOS 10. I love that I don't have to unlock my iPhone to see what's going on and make a decision based on that. So I'll definitely be glad to help. Be sure to test the issue after ever step you try.

Use Notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch -- First I'd like you to check one of the apps in Notifications settings and confirm you have turned "Show on Lock Screen" on. If it's on, turn it off, count to 5, then turn it back on and test.

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Before beginning any troubleshooting, I always recommend backing up before starting. It's always better to "have" a backup than to "need" a backup.

    1. Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- Never underestimate the power of a good restart!

    2. Reset iPhone settings -- This step will return the iPhone's settings to factory default. Manually reset the notifications for your apps making sure to turn on "Show on Lock Screen" and test.

If you haven't backed up your iPhone as yet, I highly recommend doing so now to keep your personal information safe.

    3. Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings -- If you've reached this point, it means you'll need to install a fresh copy of the iOS onto your phone. You'll need to use iTunes on a computer to completely erase it.

The first time through select "Set up as a new iPhone" and sign into iTunes & App Store and iCloud. Download some of the apps you've expected to see notifications on your lock screen from, set up Notifications for them and test. If it's working like it should, continue to the next step.

    4. Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup -- Follow the steps in this article to place your personal information back on your phone.

    Cheers!
