You are welcome. Try control - clicking the zip file and selecting open If that doesn't work, run the program again and generate a new report.

Nope. That's a link to a file on your own computer. Since you don't have a server running, no one here can access it.

Run EtreCheck again. When the results are listed, follow John Galt's instructions to click the upper left icon of the app, and choose Copy to clipboard.

Then start a new reply here, click anywhere in the box where you would start typing a reply and press Command+V.

Avast is by far your biggest problem. All AV software on the Mac is a waste of time and resources. That more than anything is dragging your Mac's performance down. Follow the instructions on Avast's site to remove it.

There are numerous Trojans out there that can affect the Mac, but Trojans need to be installed by you in some way. AV software will not stop these, so they're useless.

It failed to load, but the file com.mentmac.service.update.plist is related to HotShoppy. Another item you don't want on your Mac. Go to this site. Click the Download button on that page to get MalwareBytes Anti Virus for Mac and run it.

Despite the name, it's not AV software in the normal sense (the name just came along from the Windows version). It doesn't tie up your system the way normal AV software does. It instead scans your Mac for known Mac malware (mostly adware), and offers to remove what it finds. HotShoppy has been around for a while, so it will likely find and remove it for you.

I actually have a paid for version of Malware Bytes on my windows pc  this info is great because I have been of the impression that 'Avast is the best and have been paying for it for 2 years. I had trouble with so many viruses on pc that I have 3 security programs installed on it but only use one at a time.

never get any viruses any longer though..(I mean on windows_)  I just bought this iMac and have been toying with the idea of taking it back and exchanging for a Lenovo Yoga Laptop....since you know so much about macs   convince me why I should keep the iMac please. I know how to do EVERYTHING on windows  and NOTHING ON iMac and it is so frustrating. I cannot even work with photos on iMac like I do on windows. well I just used EtreCheck again after the Malware scan so I will attach it here..

The Windows version of MalwareBytes is excellent, as far as AV software goes. The Mac version started out as donation software by user Thomas Reed, who writes and maintains it. The folks at MalwareBytes were so impressed with his work, they hired him and changed the name of the app from AdwareMedic to MalwareBytes Anti Virus for Mac, for no reason other than to have the similar names.

So while they have essentially the same name, the Mac version is nothing like the Windows version. It looks in specific areas of the drive for known Mac malware and offers to remove what it finds.

The software you ran got rid of the HotShoppy garbage, and that's good. But Avast is doing nothing for you on your Mac. Literally - nothing that helps the Mac OS. It might catch the occasional Windows malware as an email attachement, but is otherwise only succeeding in greatly slowing your Mac down. Get rid of it. You'll see a tremendous increase in speed just doing that.

As far as your pictures and other such usage, I can only tell you that it takes time to get used to any new OS or app. It would be no easier for a long time Mac user to get used to Windows. Basic stuff like copying files, saving files and opening apps is pretty much the same, but they're different enough otherwise that you need to give yourself time to get comfortable with it.
