Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. I know how important having your phone calls and notifications on your iPhone to work how you expect is to you!
If I understand correctly, you are talking on a phone call over the speaker phone, and you get an event reminder notification at the top of the screen, and that disconnects the phone call. The following steps will be helpful in resolving your issue and get your iPhone working properly again!
1. Restart your device as the shut down and start up process is important to keep the iOS software running properly. Then test the issue again.

2. The next step if your issue is not resolved is to make a backup of your personal data and then Reset All Settings from Settings > General > Reset on your device. This resets all of your device’s settings like Wallpaper, Sounds, Display & Brightness, Background App Refresh, Date & Time, and removes all of your previously used Wi-Fi networks and passwords.
