Q: Email problems

I have a Macbook, an iPhone 6s and an iPad all using GMAIL. The iPad and iPhone receive emails all the time perfectly but the macbook constantly needs turning on and off as if re-booting for the emails to work. I have been getting expert help from a computer company but they say there is a problem with the macbook as it keeps having problems for no reason.

Can you help please

If I follow those instructions I go my mail account then view but after that there is no connection doctor. Does it matter that this is a macbook?

sorry, that should be:

Mail > Window > Connection Doctor

that is not a good place for it, but that is where the programmers decided to put it, probably because it opens a new Window that is not the mail-Reader window.
