iCloudThat's unfortunate. I would suggest you get your money back from the seller. Otherwise, they have defrauded you. They likely sold you a stolen phone. Contact the police.
Best of luck,

Did you buy it from that previous owner? If so, you should contact the police and see if they can help resolve the issue as it is usually a fraud to sell something in a disabled state without making that clear at the time of sale or selling explicitly "as is".
If you bought it from someone else, and they did not acquire it legally from the original owner, then that original owner is completely within their rights to keep it activation locked. In other words if the seller was selling a lost or stolen device, then the original owner is well within their rights to keep the device disabled to others.

And that's unfortunate. However, there's nothing you can do. The phone is useless to you.

Aug 30, 2016 2:51 PM in response to Meg St._Clairby Jmed25,Count me in as one who thinks this new "feature" is ridiculous. My wife, who has serious memory issues, has locked her IPad somehow by doing a "Find my Iphone" at some point. I've tried to retrace her steps on how she did it, but she can't remember. I know the original apple id and password, but still can't access the IPad. I have the original receipt, Best Buy CC statments to prove it's ours, and STILL there doesn't seem to be a way to use this IPad ever again. I've read all the steps I've seen online, but nothing works. This is Moronic!!

As the original retail purchaser, and with the receipts from an Apple Authorized reseller in hand, you can take it to any Apple Store and they will help you to undo Activation Lock. That solution has been mentioned numerous times in this very thread.

Aug 30, 2016 7:03 PM in response to Jmed25by gail from maine,This is a long ways from a "new" feature. It has been out for at least 3 years, which is forever in tech time.
If you have your original receipt, then, as has been outlined many times in this 63 page thread, you can take that info and the device to your local Apple Store and they should be able to help you out.
Also, Find My iPhone is a feature of iCloud, and you have to be signed into iCloud in order to turn Find My iPhone on. So, if you know your wife's Apple ID and Password, I would suggest that you go to Settings>iCloud, scroll down to Find My iPhone, turn it off, and type in your wife's Apple ID password to turn it off when asked.
If you are having a different issue, then please clearly describe what you are trying to do, and what you are encountering when you are trying to do it.
Best of luck,
GB

Aug 30, 2016 7:16 PM in response to Jmed25by LACAllen, but still can't access the IPad.
In what way specifically? Are you in the setup assistant, being asked for the password to an obscured Apple ID/email address?
If you know the Apple ID and password, you shouldn't be having this issue. If you have the original purchase receipt, you can send it to Apple during the first phone contact and be back into your iPad within days.

Oh and if you do get it unlocked we have a device inabled that can
see the exact location of the user and it will be reported to the police
there was already a report made when it was taken and we gave the person ample
oppertunity to return it i printed off all pages of the person who kept reporting issuse to apple

if you are feeling any sympathy for the child that is rightfully the owner of this ipad
please call Nichole , Morgans mother and I can reimburse you if you purchased it used

iCloudNot sure who you are responding to, but this is a user to user technical support forum, so your post is simply not valid for this venue. Also, the original post was written in October 2013. So, you are indicating that you gave your daughter an iPad for Christmas when she was 4 years old?
I will have your personal details removed, since this is a public forum.
Please limit posts to technical questions.

iCloudAs Deggie indicated above. To stop those emails, just click the "Following" button at the top of the screen, and they should stop coming.
Sorry about your daughter's iPad

Sep 17, 2016 10:01 AM in response to OrangeMarlinby bcotleur,Don't assume everyone is a thief. I gave an old iPad to a friend. I removed it from my iCloud, I deleted it from iTunes. They STILL cannot set it up under their iTunes. FRUSTRATING!!!! I am willing to release it from anything associated with me and yet it still won't let go. There should be a better way.

Sep 17, 2016 10:06 AM in response to bcotleurby gail from maine,No one is accusing anyone of being a thief. There have been references to stolen iPhones, but usually that is because someone has been duped, not because they have stolen it themselves.
You are going to have to sign your iCloud ID out of the physical iPhone itself. Removing it from iCloud is not going to turn off the Activation Lock. Only signing out of iCloud on your device, or remotely erasing it from iCloud is going to do that:
Turn off Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support
Best of luck,
