Q: playlist shows downloaded but cloud icons still appear

After upgrading to iOS 10 I noticed that when I have a playlist download it will still show iCloud icons for downloading individual tracks. Is this normal? How do I know my playlist downloaded successfully and I don't have to worry about it eating up cellular data during playback?

I've also noticed that some songs seem to refuse to download. Is this normal? is the only solution to delete them and re-add to the playlist?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 10, null

    Hello merrellsj,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

i see you have questions regarding downloading music to your iPhone and want to make sure it is available for listening offline. You don't say for sure, but it appears that you are using Apple Music, if that is the case, take a look at the following article: Add music from the Apple Music catalog to your Library You will want to pay particular attention to the section on How to download music to listen to offline.

If you are not using Apple Music, please let us know what service you are using or how you are downloading. We can go from there.

    Best regards.

Yes, this is Apple Music. I attached a screen shot to show what I mean... notice it says the playlist is downloaded but still shows the cloud icon to download the track individually.

    merrellsj,

If you turn off Wi-Fi, are you still able to play those songs? The "Downloaded" notification you are seeing indicates that the song has been added to your Library, the cloud with arrow icon indicates it's avail be to download to listen offline. From the referenced support article:

How to download music to listen to offline

You can download songs, albums, or playlists to your device so that you can listen to them when you're not connected to the Internet.* You must download songs, albums, or playlists on each device that you want to use for offline listening.

In the Music app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or in iTunes on your Mac or PC, find the song, album, or playlist that you want to download. Then:

    • On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Tap Download .
    • On your Mac or PC: Click Download .

If you don't see  or , you need to add the songsalbums, or playlists to your Library first.

    Regards

Yes most of them still play. In fact they play in airplane mode. This is why I'm confused. I would expect to not see the cloud icon if the songs were on my iPhone. The appearance of those icons after the playlist was downloaded sees like a bug.

    merrellsj,

At this point you may be better served by using another one of Apple's support resources - https://getsupport.apple.com

    Cheers.

I submitte the same message to that support area the same day I posted here. They have yet to respond. I guess I will just have to call Apple Support and cancel Apple Music to get any movment.
