Q: shuffle problem with iTunes

Since downloading the latest iTunes update for Windows I can't get shuffle to turn off anywhere. The shuffle in the top bar (where the songs show as they're playing) is turned off, but the Shuffle All that's next to every album and also on top of the artist page is turned on and I can't find a way to turn it off. I hate shuffle, and I never use it, and I never want to, and yet iTunes apparently wants me to. Any suggestions for what to do? shuffleiTunes 12.5

    Hey there!

Thanks for reaching out! It sounds like you can see that shuffle is turned off but iTunes is still shuffling. I would start by seeing if we can isolate this to a specific iTunes library or a specific user. Create a new library and test this out using this article:

Open a different iTunes Library file or create a new one

If it works the same way in a new library, I would next move on to testing in a new user on the computer:

OS X El Capitan: Set up users on your Mac

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Let us know how these tests go.

It can not be that I need to create a new library or need to adopt new username because Apple sends an update that helps me in trouble?

This will help us isolate where the issue lies, so we can proceed with troubleshooting.

OK! By choosing the second last existing iTunes Library the problem is solved. I only had to reload my latest purchases of music from the Cloud. So your suggestion was less difficult as I thought it was ........sorry

Is there another solution that doesn't involve selecting the previous library? My second last library backup was done like 6 months ago and my library has changed significantly since then.

I noticed that the shuffle problem so far is only applying to one playlist. Hopefully I don't find out later that it applies to more. So I created a new playlist, copied all the songs from the problem playlist to the new playlist. In album view of the new playlist for some reason every song is now appearing duplicated for every album. I had to go into each album one by one and remove now duplicated tracks for each album I copied over to the new playlist. Seems to be working now but Apple needs to do more testing before they roll these changes out as it can completely mess up people's libraries.

It's happening with me on my MacBook Pro, too. Driving me nuts. Using a different library didn't solve the problem for me.
