Q: disable monitoring from Yeti mic?

On my current project, I am hearing loud audio input from my Yeti mic whenever it is switched on. It doesn't matter what track I have selected or whether it's an audio track or a midi track, or whether the input button is on or not. How can I turn it off? I don't have this problem in other projects so there must be some setting in this one that needs to be changed.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

OK, that's odd.  Feedback is caused by the mic picking up and feeding the computer sound output by the speakers, and that resulting sound from the mic is looped back to the speakers again, and this infinite loop causes feedback.

MIDI tracks don't pick up the mic at all.  Audio tracks with Input turned off won't pick up sound (look at the audio meter on the track, you shouldn't see anything on it).

So you've got something else going on.  Check System Preferences and see what your Sound input and output are set to.  Also go to the Logic Pro X menu, to Preferences, to Audio and see what LPX's input and output are set to.  Something other than those tracks are picking up the mic.

Could it be your System Preferences are set to use the built-in mic of your iMac, and feeding that into Logic?  Or are using the built-in speakers which are feeding out to the mic?
