Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having an issue with Touch ID is not what you expect. The good news is the following steps will be helpful in resolving your issue with Touch ID:
Use Touch ID on iPhone and iPad
If the steps in the “Get help with Touch ID” section of that article don’t help to resolve your issue, you would need to seek service for your iPhone, and here is Apple’s website on this to get you started:
