Q: How do I get rid of  the Grabber Cursor (hand) in Apple Mail?

This is VERY frustrating!  I've read and Googled this question.  I am NOT getting this in Safari.  I do NOT have Adobe Reader.  I get the hand (Grabber cursor) in Apple Mail.  It is absolutely useless to me.  The only way I can get rid of it is to double-click the mail  piece that I want to flag/unflag; then and ONLY then does the hand change back into the arrow that I need to do this job.  Why do I have to waste my time with this?

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.3), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

The cursor changes based on what content is under the cursor. The "Grabber" cursor should only appear when you can grab something, like the message itself. For instance, it changes to that cursor when I hover over the headers in a message because I can grab the message and drag it somewhere.

The problem of cursors that do not change correctly is usually caused by some other software that is interfering with the normal operation.

I do notice that that there is a noticeable lag in switching back to the pointer when moving the mouse across the headers and onto the toolbar/menu bar. However, that does not prevent me from clicking on a button (like the Flag) or on a menu.

Does your cursor remain a hand and not let you otherwise click?

Did you try restarting your computer?

It seems if you hover over a link it changes to a "pointer" and continuing to move over other areas of the header a "hand,"  However if I move off the email it easily goes back to the cursor arrow. I never experienced this as an issue.
