Q: I am able to add my emails to Mail, but it is saying Error in IMAP and SMTP

I am able to add my accounts (I have an yahoo and gmail) but they are not connecting. Connection Doctor says its an error with IMAP and SMTP. I also am having trouble with adding outlook. I do also have Outlook 2016 installed and yahoo and gmail are also having trouble connecting through the IMAP and SMTP.

Can anyone give me an suggestions to fix this?

First, check that you have an active Internet connection by opening a web browser and trying to use your accounts through their webmail interfaces.

If that works, then make sure that you are on a trusted WiFi network (such as at home) that is not blocking email protocols.

And lastly, if you have any antivirus or other security software installed on your Mac then remove it completely per manufacturer's instructions, reboot, and then try adding your mail accounts again.

I took the advice on a trusted Wi-Fi, it helped getting the mail to connect to the internet. I was finally able to get the problem solved (after 3 Apple Customer Support Chats later and a rebooted mac). As stupid as it is, the only issue was because I didn't have gmail 2 step verification enabled. So when I added Gmail without the 2 step it pretty much wouldn't let anything work.
