Q: Icloud won't allow email on windows 10

I implemented two factor authentication on my apple products and updated to the anniversary version of windows 10 at the same time. After doing so icloud will no longer let me access icloud email through my PC. When I load the icloud control screen I get the following;

Any ideas what I can do to get a checkbox for email again? Icloud email had been working on this machine for months.

My guess is it has something to do with the two factor authentication or the windows update changed something so Icloud cannot access the mail app?

    Hi there jimbau,

It looks like you aren't seeing the option to check Mail in your iCloud for Windows interface. According to this article it means that you do not have Outlook installed on your computer.

iCloud: Set up iCloud Mail on your devices

Set up iCloud Mail on your Windows computer with Outlook: If Microsoft Outlook 2016 or earlier is installed, Open iCloud for Windows, select Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks, then click Apply. Your iCloud Mail account is listed in the folder list (also called the navigation pane) on the left side of Microsoft Outlook. To view your iCloud Mail folders in Outlook, click the disclosure triangle to the left of your iCloud email account.

Access iCloud Mail on your Windows computer without Outlook: If Microsoft Outlook is not installed, the Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks option doesn’t appear in iCloud for Windows. Use your web browser to access iCloud Mail on iCloud.com.

Set up other email apps: See the Apple Support article Mail server settings for email clients.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

When I go to the windows app store it says I have both Mail and Office 365 installed on my machine?

Thanks for the update. Next lets uninstall iCloud for Windows:

    Windows 8 or later:

    1. Go to the Start screen, right-click in the bottom-left corner or click, then select Control Panel.
    2. Click Uninstall a Program.
    3. Click iCloud > Uninstall.
    4. When asked to confirm, select Yes.

Set up and use iCloud for Windows

Then restart your computer and reinstall it to test the issue again.

Over the past couple of days I have reinstalled Icloud (which didn't make a difference at all) and reinstalled Office 365 which did give me back the Mail checkbox on the Icloud screen. But I still cannot get access to my icloud account from any MS mail program. It says the credentials are wrong. I am convinced it has something to do with the two factor authentication. When I first logged onto icloud it went through the two factor process but it does not seem to have opened access to Mail (maybe because it wasn't working at the time the process took place).

I have basically given up and am accessing my icloud email through the browser at this point. It is just a bit of a pain since all my other email accounts are all in one place in the MS outlook mail app.

I have the same problem with Windows 7 and Outlook 2007.  When I check the Mail, Contacts and Calendars box in iCloud and click apply, iCloud says I have the wrong ID or Password.  I have two step verification, but when I sign in to iCloud, it doesn't offer to send a code.  I have uninstalled and re-installed iCloud for Windows to no avail.

I may try deleting two step verification to see if that works.

I have Apple Care working on it, so I will let you know if we find a solution.

I tried removing two step verification and that didn't work.
