Q: Mission Control graphic issue

Hi, I have an early 2013 MacBook Pro Retina running El Capitan 10.11.6

Launching Mission Control, there's a graphic issue: desktop thumbnails are all gray, as you can see in the screenshot.

I've already tried quitting Dock in activity monitor and running "killall Dock" in the Terminal. Rebooting the system, the problem persist.

Any ideas?

    Hello GalaxyWorker,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that when using Mission Control the thumbnails are gray. I use Mission Control often, so I know being able to see the thumbnail of the available screens can be helpful. I am happy to help get this resolved with you.

You've done a great job trying to fix this on your own. First, I recommend testing the issue in safe mode. Starting in safe mode allows your Mac to perform certain checks, delete cache, and prevent Startup and Login Items from opening automatically. Follow the steps below to start in safe mode.

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.
    3. Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, it might take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your desktop. This is because your Mac performs a directory check of your startup disk as part of safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up

If the issue doesn't occur in safe mode but returns when you restart normally, try disabling login items using the link below.
OS X El Capitan: If you think you have incompatible login items

If the issue occurred while in safe mode, it's possible user settings or files are the cause. In this case, please test the issue in a new user using the instructions in the following link.

    Have a fantastic day!

Thanks for your answer! I've tried rebooting in safe mode, but the problem wasn't solved. Later, I tried checking if the issue was caused by the background file and... that was right! I don't know what's the reason, but something went wrong changing it time ago, like the directory wasn't available. So I changed it again using a system one and then I solved the issue
