Q: Apple watch calling emergency services since update

Guys,

wondering if anyone else is having this issue, but since updating to ios3 my watch is randomly calling emergency services when I am riding my motorbike with my gloves on.

Obviously the gloves are putting pressure on the on/off button and bringing up the menu but then the watch is dialing emergency services through some how the wrist movements activating it.  I'd kind understand if the was my right wrist (the throttle wrist which is constantly moving) but it is my left which is mainly static.  And it shouldn't be activating being under clothes.

Any one else having this issue, it is a huge problem is apple watches are calling emergency services randomly.

Thanks

Apple Watch, watchOS 3

I have not encountered this problem. You could change the way emergency sos is initiated by going to the watch app on your iPhone, general, emergency sos and turning off hold to auto call. You would then have to press and hold the side button, followed by a swipe on emergency sos. Perhaps this is a working solution or at least temporarily?

Yeah that could work, didn't realise that it called if the button was being held down, that would explain why it is calling if its getting trapped by the glove.  See if it works.

Still a small design issue though, I can't be the only one this has happened too.

    Thanks

You probably aren't. I was reading on the net about other people accidentally calling emergency services and a fix that was suggested was the one I mentioned to you in my previous response. When I received my apple watch, that was the first change I made.

Glad I could help though, cheers.

I have exactly the same problem. Second morning this has done this, Got off my motorbike to find I'm calling the emergency services. Previous day, they called me back after I had dialled them 3 times! whilst on my motorbike.

I think apple need to apply on automatic fix otherwise apple watch is going to be wasting a lot of time of the emergency services!
