Q: Want to convert large batches of pages files to .docx

Hello,

I have over 10 years of pages documents and I am being forced to switch to a Windows device. I need a way to covert all of those documents from pages into Office Word .doc or .docx. Does anyone know a way to do this or is there a software I need to purchase to be able to do it. Thanks in advance.

What explicit version(s) of Pages do you have installed on what specific version of OS X. I have a drag/drop AppleScript written that will convert Pages documents into Word docx. It is currently written for Pages v5.6.2.

I have a similar problem.  I need to convert thousands of .doc files to .docx (true XML, not "Compatibility Mode"), without losing formatting, tables, graphics, lists, etc.  Please help!

May I suggest that since these are historic files and you want faithful copies, print them all to pdf instead.

Pages to Word .doc/x is never going to be totally accurate and if you are changing permanently, reconstruct your documents in Word and start from those.

Your most accurate approach would be to use Word 2016 for Mac, or its Word 2016 counterpart on Windows. The .doc files will be opened, and then resaved in .docx — in their native document formats — without translation into other word processing formats.

Word 2016 for Mac is AppleScript aware. Therefore, you should be able to automate the .doc to .docx conversion process.
