Q: Robotic Static Sounds USB Headset

Issue: When using any USB headset or USB audio input device on any Macintosh with any operating system from 10.5.7 to 10.6.1, after about 10-20 minutes of use, all audio from the headset becomes garbled and has a robotic static sound quality.

Tested with: Dozens of different Macintosh Computers over the last 6 months with different USB headsets and microphone input devices.

Reproducable: Yes, via either Garageband, Ventrilo or a number of other software applications that do USB Audio Input

Additional Information and attempted fixes:
• Tried it with a powered USB Hub
• Switched the Audio Midi Setup input to 48k
• Using Audio Midi Setup to create an aggregate device
• Tried it on different Macs, Different Headsets and Different physical locations
• Tried different USB ports

Six years have passed since this thread was started. My "new" (well, its almost a year old now) imac still have the same issue, and Apple is making it quite obvious that they don't give a ****. If a specific brand of PC´s would handle issues the same way, they would go out of buisness quite soon. But since the AppleCult (myself included), seems completely brainwashed we still buy the ****. Next time i will invest the same amount of money that the Apple **** costs, into a PC, and it will be faster - this **** won't be a problem and when i get issues, they will get fixed with new drivers! I will face the occasional crasch, blue screen and having to update **** by myself with a smile. So long Apple, I've invested way too much in this ****, i will not ever make the same mistake again.

Do you got any solutions for that problem or is it still "active"?

The problem is still there. Pretty disappointing considering it is not there for 5 !!1!eleven! years.

I was hoping El Capitan could change that issue - it semms it doesn't. At has to be a problem on Apple's side - please do something, Apple!

Found a clue earlier in this thread that fixed the problem for me. On a new MacbookPro, my trusty Plantronics suddenly was creating static, noise and out of phase recording.

This was fixed by changing the input sampling in the target application from 48Hz to 44Hz. There is no way to do this at a system level, just the application level.

Provided you can change the sample rate in the application. But thanks for the hint. i check if it can be done with TeamSpeak.
