Q: IOS 10 Update. Phone calls not working.

Yesterday I downloaded IOS 10 for my iPhone 6.

When I now make phone calls, others cannot hear me over the phone. I can hear the person who I am talking to fine but they cannot hear me. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, is there any way to fix it?

I am also not a T-Mobile customer. I am with Verizon.

    Hello jackhahahahaha,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that since updating to iOS 10, other callers are unable to hear you when using your iPhone 6. Being heard can be most important part of a phone call. I want to make sure others are able to hear you clearly.

First I recommend restarting your iPhone. This can resolve many unexpected behaviors. Use the steps below to restart, if needed.

    1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
    2. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
    3. After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the issue persists, test the microphones on your iPhone and follow the "Get help" section in the link below.

    Have an amazing day!

I manage about 15 iPhones for a small team in the UK and over the past week almost all the users have complained to me about the same thing. All but one of those who complained are on the Vodafone network the other uses Giff Gaff (O2?). Is this a widespread problem? Is Apple aware of the problem? Can you advise how to fix this issue? We have tried resetting all the phones and it has not helped. We have checked the microphones - they are working and switched on.

Restarting doesn't work. Resetting the network settings doesn't work.

I'm having the same problem on my iPhone 6Plus.  All was fine until I updated to iOS 10.0.2 yesterday.  Phones calls are intermediately not working.  I can make and receive calls....but I cannot hear the other user on the other end.

I sort of have this problem, as well as my wife. We just got our iphone 7's sent to us last week and intermittently when we make or receive calls, the other person on the line complains that they can't hear us or that we cut out or fade out, and it is really starting to get annoying. We have both checked our mic's on the voice memo app and when we call each other on our phones we can't seem to replicate the issue. We don't have the best reception in our home, but when we were using our old phones, we were also not using IOS 10, we hadn't updated until we had our new phones and we never had an issue, even with one bar. What is the problem?

Have the same problem in DK (TDC) and is also on version 10.0.2. Restarts solves the problem....for a while. Fix this!

Several in our office are having the same issues. Several seconds after accepting a call and during the conversation, the phone will go silent. Neither you nor the party you are speaking to can hear each other. However, the screen still shows you in an active call. This has happened numerous times during the day since upgrading to IOS 10.0.2. We need a fix immediately as this happened during a 911 call today!
