Q: iPhone messaging

I submitted a problem just now but it wouldn't give me enough space to write the whole problem.  So, here it is:

My husband and I both have iPhones and we text regularly.

For some reason, yesterday, a text appeared in my iMessages between my husband and myself that was sent in August, it appeared in a green bubble for my husband's iMessages.

The sender has an iPhone so that doesn't make sense, it should be in a blue bubble.  Additionally, the sender's iPhone messages appear in a green bubble in my iMessages between myself and the sender as well.

So I checked, and my husband's phone number (not his name) appears as the contact on my iMac's contacts list and strangely, the same message from the same iPhone sender was also received yesterday to a second iMessages tab from my husband showing only his phone number again: but, 1 minute apart and this time in a blue bubble!

On my iPhone, my husband appears twice:  1 with his name and the other with his iCloud email account.  The one with his name has green bubbles and the one with his email account has blue bubbles!

So, can somebody please help me fix this so that 1) my iMessages on my iPhone show my husband with his name and not his email account, 2) my iMac recognizes my husband and instead of his phone number that it identifies him by name, and 3) that when iMessages are sent between us that they show up in blue bubbles?

Thanks,

    Hello felicitafromapo,

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

Based on your post, I see that you would like iMessages on your iPhone to display your husband's name, not his email account. You would like your iMac to recognize your husband's name instead of phone number, and you would also like iMessages sent between you to show up in blue bubbles. I completely understand. I send iMessages to many people and I know that it's important to make sure that these are sent using iMessage (blue bubbles), and not text messages (green).

First, I would like to share an article with you that helps describe the difference why some of your messages bubbles are blue or green:
    About iMessage and SMS/MMS

You both need to be logged into iMessage in order for your Messages sent between devices to appear in blue. If one of the sender's messages appears in green, it means that they are no longer logged into iMessage on their Apple device.

Then, please make sure that you are both logged into iMessage on each of your devices (iPhones and iMacs) with your Apple ID. For your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > make sure iMessage is on (green) > Send & Receive > Make sure your Apple ID is displayed and logged in. For your iMac, go to Messages > Preferences > Accounts > Make sure you are signed in with your Apple ID.

This should help with how the contact is displayed when an iMessage is sent to you.

Additional information about iMessage can be found in the iPhone User Guide below:

    Have a great day!
