Q: Deleting iPhoto's off my Laptop to free up memory
Help please - I have transferred all my pictures currently on Photo on to a stand alone hard drive
I also want to keep my most recent holiday pictures on my lap top and delete the other albums to free up some memory. Have pressed delete album on up to 20 albums but the "amount of memory left hasn't changed.
Anybody have any idea why?
Second question if I take up the apple offer and store all my photos in the cloud will this free up memory on my laptop ?
Cheers - MP

Yes - since you have Photos and posted in the iPhoto forum until we verified the details any answers would have been totally wrong
and
In either Photos or iPhoto deleting from an album saves no space as albums are not a place but simply one way to view your photos and albums take no space
In Photos under El Captain you can either select the photos in the album (not the album but the photos) and hold the command key down while pressing the delete key or right clicking and selecting delete "n" photos - or select the photos in moments and press command delete - then go to the recently deleted album adn delete form there (or wait about 30 days) and if the photos were migrated from iPhoto you also have to delete in the iPHoto library or archive and delete the entire iPhoto librarary
I will request your thread be moved to the Photos forum
