Q: Should I often open and close my macbook
I am 15 and am homeschooled, so during my school day my macbook just sits on my desk plugged in and charging. I get up from my desk multiple times a day (to read a textbook, have lunch, take a break, exc.) and I was wondering if I should always be closing and opening my macbook. Is it good for it if I am leaving for half an hour to close it (put it in sleep mode) or should I just leave it open the whole day from when I wake up until I go to sleep.

You can choose to do whatever works best for you. You really can. It makes no difference.
Of the thousands of MacBooks I deployed in education, both public and private schools, I have yet to encounter a single one whose hinges have worn out from overuse. Close it if you want, just don't close it on a pen or something else between the screen and keyboard. That is the only damage I have seen.
Use its battery once in a while. Don't leave it plugged in for weeks at a time.
