Q: iOS 10: "Send"-Field in Home Screen

Hi,

try this:

- receive a message that is being displayed on Lock Screen (i.e. WhatsApp, Telegram)

- slide message for "more" and choose "answer" - an input field with "Send" button appears

- unlock your phone with TouchID without actually sending an answer

The input field from the lock screen remains at the bottom of the home screen and does not disappear without locking and unlocking the phone again.

Can anyone confirm this behaviour? Is this intentional?

Regards

    Hello lingering presence,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having an issue with notifications on the lock screen is not what you expect. If I understand correctly, if you start to respond to a notification on the lock screen and not send it, but then unlock your iPhone, the notification remains. If this is only happening with 3rd party apps, I would start by following all the steps in this article:

If an app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open

Then, restart your device as the shut down and start up process is important to keep the iOS software running properly, and test the issue once your iPhone has restarted.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    Cheers!

    Hi,

thanks for your reply. Restarting the device did not solve the problem.

Let me try to explain in more detail what happens:

    - notification appears on lock screen

    - I select "more", "view" or "more", "answer"

    - Keyboard and input field with "send" appears at the bottom of the screen

    - I unlock the phone using touch ID

    - notification and keyboard disappear, input field and "send" remain at the bottom of the screen

All apps run without problems despite this error. I can start, end, open or close any app, including the one that sent the notification. However I cannot answer in this app - the input field is inactive. Other apps work fine.

    - when the error occours, I lock the screen with the lock button

    - input field disappears, no notifications on lock screen

    - I unlock again with Touch ID

    - input field is gone for good and does not reappear until it is actually needed

After this, I can also write answers in the app that caused the trouble above. Everything is completely back to normal.

Can anyone confirm that they do not experience this behaviour when following the actions I explained above? Thank you.

    Regards

Sorry, one more clarification: When the error occurs, the erroneous input field remains at the bottom of the screen in all other apps and on the home screen. After locking and unlocking the phone once again, it is gone and only appears when needed.

Great, that clarification helps! First, I would still test reinstalling an app that you can replicate this issue in. Otherwise, the next step is to make a backup of your personal data and Reset All Settings from Settings > General > Reset on your device. This resets all of your device’s settings like Wallpaper, Sounds, Display & Brightness, Background App Refresh, Date & Time, and removes all of your previously used Wi-Fi networks and passwords. Once this process is done, then test the issue again, and if it occurs again, try reinstalling the app.

    Hi,

well, this was about the worst experience I ever had with my iPhone.

Resetting the phone was no problem. Restoring from backup was: didn't work. While trying to restore, iTunes bricked my phone. Then iTunes Windows (current version) tried to install iOS 9, which failed. I ended up restoring my iPhone in iTunes for OS X and then reinstalling every app from scratch, setting passwords, syncing files, ...

And the best part is that the problem is still there, even after a complete reset with re-installing iOS 10. Hours gone without any improvement.

    iOS 10 ***** big time.

    Regards
