Q: I am trying to move a file from a USB storage device to save to my mac. Have no idea how.

    Plug the device in and wait until an icon for it appears on your Desktop. If it doesn't appear, open any Finder window (with the sidebar showing) and locate the name of the device under 'Devices'. Double click this (or the icon) to open a window showing its contents. Locate the file in question and drag it to the Desktop. (This will not remove it from the device.) Then you can move it to wherever you want it to be stored. Or you can open that folder as well and drag directly to that. Eject the device properly before unplugging it.
