Q: Emagic Logic Control stopped working

I havn´t been using my Emagic Logic Control for some time and as i wantted to use it it did not work anymore.

Emagic Logic Control doesn´t show up in Logic Controller Setup, but the Jog-Wheel works ???

Mac Pro early 2012

Unitor 8

RME Fireface 800

Emagic Logic Control - v 2.1.2

Emagic Logic Control XT

OSX 10.11.6 (El Capitan)

Logic 9.1.8 (64 bit)

I tried following:

trashing the Logic prefs and Controller Surface prefs and restart

2 different midi interfaces

different midi cables

different power supplies

tried to re-instal the 1.02 firmware update, with no succes

another computer also running OSX 10.11.6 and Logic 9.1.8 (64 bit)

Switching between Mackie mode and Logic mode

When i switch on Emagic Logic Control, it goes through the Fader Calibration without problems, but doesn´t go any further, and is not seen by Logic, but Emagic Logic Control XT is seen by Logic.

It seems as the midi input is not working.

Do you have any thoughts ? Maybe it´s a hardware failure and i should try to find spareparts ?

nice regards

Henning

Emagic as a company hasn't existed for so long now, and their products have not been updated for just as long, I'd think it wasn't compatible any longer.  Did it stop working with a specific software upgrade of any sort?  Yeah, that's going to be tough with such old hardware.  I'd have the unit checked out by someone who knows how to verify what does and doesn't work inside of it.

    Hi BenB

Thanx for your answer. I know the company is old (i´ve been onboard with Logic since the first version from 1989 ;-) but i dont think it´s got something to do with that. The Emagic Control was produced by Mackie and later it was sold from Mackie as a Mackie Control, but with the same specs as the Emagic Logic Control. Furthermore i have 2 Emagic Logic XT (extention controllers) which both works with Logic 9 now. The controller worked for 3-4 months ago, before i upgraded from Yosemity to El Capitan, so maybe it´s got something to do with the OSX upgrade, or it´s a hardware failure. Can anyone confirm that the Emagic Logic Control works with Logic 9 and El Capitain ?

    nice regards

Just want you to know that my 1st generation Logic Control works fine  connected thru an Emagic AMT8 using Logic 10.2.4 on OS 10.11.6.

I am also using an Emagic Logic Control (in MCU mode) along with a Mackie Control Extender.

I am on El Capitan and it works fine up to Logic 10.2.1  Beyond 10.2.1 it works except for erratic behavior when writing automation in touch mode when a high latency plugin is on output 1-2.

When I have had trouble with the controllers being recognized (happens occasionally) I go under the Logic menu to "Control Surfaces" and select "Rebuild Defaults"  This usually brings them back to life.

Another thing to look for is in the Mac utility Audio MIDI Set Up.  Check your MIDI connections there.  Sometimes I just remove my MIDI interface from the utility, then power cycle the MIDI interface and Logic Controls to get everything to be recognized.

    Hi Marcelo

Thanx for your answer. I´ve already tried the rebuild defaults and removing midi interface (just forgot to write it) from audio midi utility. i´ve tried it several times, and i seems that it´s a hardware failure ;-(

    nice regards ;-)
