Q: App store warning indicates it is set to another country. Why?

Occasionally, when I open the Mac App Store to install software updates on my MacBook Pro, a warning window opens after I enter my Apple ID that says that my AppleID is associated with another country and asks if I would like to reset the country.  I say yes and everything works fine.  I have logged into Apple's system and verified that the country associated with my Apple ID is the US (which is correct).  So it appears to me that under the hood the Mac App Store seems to occasionally become confused and thinks it is configured for another country.

I have traveled outside the US with the MacBook Pro on numerous occasions but do not believe I purchased anything from the Mac App Store during these trips so I would not think this would cause confusion.

Sp while this doesn't prevent me from updating software it is a bit perplexing that the App store believes it is somewhere else.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

When I get the warning I have no idea.  When I get that warning the only way I know of to determine the country is to select "View My Account" in the Store menu of the Mac App Store.  It then promptly logs me in to the Apple system and as I said Apple says my Apple ID is associated with the US.  So before I do that the Mac App Store thinks it is pointing to a different country.

This appears to me to be happening intermittently, perhaps the "default" Mac App Store was somehow changed and if I haven't entered my Apple ID recently the store assumes it should point to this default.
