Q: Time capsule failure to connect to new Modem?

To whom it may concern;

My time capsule which was purchased back in late 2015, doesn't want to connect to my new cable modem.  Show's connected on the status bar but no online access.  I have to do a direct connection with my modem and computer.  I can't locate its serial number either, its missing the gray serial number sticker.  I was told by a comcast rep that I may need to get a new wireless router, such as the Netgear CM 600.  That do to new technology, etc sometimes the Docsis 3.0 modem have issues with apple products.  Not sure if this is a correct statement?  Also, how do I make sure that my timecapsule has the latest firmware updates, etc?

Since I can't connect it to the internet, not sure how I can get this to work.  Trying to contact customer service has bee in a PITA.

Thanks!

    I was told by a comcast rep that I may need to get a new wireless router, such as the Netgear CM 600.  That do to new technology, etc sometimes the Docsis 3.0 modem have issues with apple products.  Not sure if this is a correct statement?

    Sadly the statement is correct.

    Some modems just do not work with the airport.. the issue is mostly the latest AC version ie the one you have.

    A modem router as Comcast suggest is the easiest way.. although you can still get modems that do work.

    The arrival of IPv6 has exacerbated the issue.

    Also, how do I make sure that my timecapsule has the latest firmware updates, etc?

    Open the airport utility and click on TC icon.. you should see the firmware is 7.7.7 .. if not it will have a red circle with a number 1 although it needs network connection to work first.
