Q: iTunes 12.3.1.23 breaks iTunes store

Just installed 12.3.1.23 and now the iTunes store just presents a scrambled banner across the top and a black screen.  You can briefly see the correct screen as it loads but then is blanked out.  Clicking on the banner brings up Demi Lovatos new album but the screen is completely scrambled.  Win 7.1 (64), nVidia with latest driver.

I have an HP AIO workstation running Windows 7 with an Nvidia Quadro card set at 2560x1440 resolution.  After a year of Googling and experimentation, I finally figured out the problem with the iTunes Store not displaying properly is related to display scaling.  To get the iTunes Store to display properly when maximized, I went to Control Panel->Appearance and Personalization->Make Text and Other Items Larger and Smaller->Set custom text size (DPI) and unchecked the box that reads "Use Windows XP Style DPI Scaling."  This fixed the issue for me.   I am posting my solution in hopes that others may benefit from it.

Hi, some good news at last! I've just updated to the latest iTunes 12.5.1.21, using Apple Software Update, on Windows 10 x64 Anniversary Edition. I can now see the contents of the store on my HiDPI (2560x1440) monitor, without having to resize the iTunes windows.

When the iTunes window is maximized, the store home page is slightly stretched on my display, with the right-hand-side menus cut-off, but it's now possible to do media searches & purchases from within the store, without the need for a workaround.

So, now the stretched home-page is the only drawback I can see - would love to hear if the new iTunes version for Windows has worked for others with this problem

Finally, after a year iTunes 12.5 fixes this issue!

Hi, I wouldn't be so quick to mark this bug as solved yet. While media searches now work fine, the home page for the store is almost non-functional on my Hidpi monitor.

This is because the home-page is graphically stretched, but your mouse is still mapped to the non-stretched page, meaning that if you click on an item then it often won't go to the right page. Not to mention that links on the home-page that go to your account, and provide other account functions, are now cut-off (at least for me) with no way to scroll to them.

If Apple can put another update that fixes the problem with the home-page, I'd consider this bug fixed.

Interesting.  It is working perfectly now for the first time since they broke it a year ago with this latest version

So you don't have the stretched home-page problem on your PC - that is interesting. Makes me wonder what's causing it on my machine - are you using a hidpi monitor in Windows with scaling turned on (I have mine set to 125%)? Will check my settings later to see if I can find out the cause of the stretching on my PC.

Nope, with this new release the problem is cured.  I've tried with every release since they broke it.  This latest release fixes it.

Hi ejpeiker, I've discovered that my problem with the home-page is due to having 125% scaling set for my display. It seems the iTunes program is dpi aware now (I don't know if this is a new feature) so when I have my display set to 125% scaling, the UI elements of iTunes get scaled up as well. This also applies to the Store home page, which also gets scaled up on my display, which leads to some elements being cut off.

If I go back down to 100% scaling, then the store home-page displays fine, but now the UI elements are too small. Maybe this should be considered a separate bug to the original black screen one, which seems to be now fixed?

YEs that would be a different bug.  Sure wish Apple would actually test their software...
