Q: Ios 10 update stuck in recovery mode

I've been trying to upgrade/restore my iphone 6s plus for 7 hours. Iphone is stuck in recovery mode and when i restore and upgrade (only option apparently) it just gets stuck at "Verifying iPhone restore" making no progress on the loading bar on the phone.  Any suggestions, I've been doing the update through my mac and itunes, which are all up to date? I've tried restarting my mac as well.

    Hi, Hailey9999!

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. After reading your post, I understand that your iPhone is in Recovery Mode after trying to install the iOS 10 update. I also see you have tried using iTunes to restore and update the iPhone, but that hasn't seemed to work. I use my phone every day, so I know it's important to get the update installed and regain access to the iPhone itself; I would be happy to help!

First, verify that you are running the latest version of OS X on your Mac, and that iTunes is also up to date. The current OS X version is 10.11.6, and the recent iTunes update is to version 12.5.1. If you need to update your OS X software, you can use the following article for help.

Update the software on your Mac

Updating iTunes instructions can be found in the article below.

Get the latest version of iTunes

Once you have confirmed both your Mac OS X and iTunes versions are up to date, follow the steps in the article linked below to restart your iPhone and place it back into recovery mode.

If you can‘t update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

I also recommend making sure you have a solid internet connection, trying the restore and update process on a different network if possible. If you have the option to use a direct ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi, that may be helpful as well.

    Have a lovely day!

If you iPhone stuck in recovery mode after iOS 10 update, and now can’t seem to get your device out of Recovery Mode, you’re in luck. Now,I teach you how to get iPhone out of recovery mode after iOS 10 update via iTunes.

Step 1. Restar your iPhone iPad.

Press both of Sleep and Home buttons for about 15 seconds until it turns off. And after some seconds, turn on your device again to check whether your iPhone works normally. If it’s still stuck in Recovery Mode, jump to step 2.

Step 2. Update iTunes to the latest version.

If your iTunes is not the latest, you can run iTunes on your computer, and go to iTunes > Check for Updates… on the iTunes Menu to download the newest version. After downloading, just install it on your computer.

Step 3. Restore Your Device in Recovery Mode.

Run iTunes on your computer and connect your iPhone or iPad to computer. Your iTunes may tell you "it has detected an iPhone (iPad or iPod touch) in Recovery Mode. You must restore this iPhone (iPad or iPod touch) before it can be used with iTunes." After you see the message, just click OK.Select Summary tab on the left, and click "Restore iPhone (iPad or iPod touch)…" on the right panel. Now restore your iOS device to be normal.itunes-detect-iphone-into-recovery-mode.png

But this way may cuase data lost, however,I recommend you use third party iOS System Recovery tool to fix iOS 10 stuck in recovery mode and other iOS system issues like DFU mode, white Apple logo, black screen, looping on start, etc.it can cause data loss.
