Q: Receiving emails ok in Mail 7.3 but missing emails in Mail 9.3

In my old Macbook I have Mail version 7.3 (1878.6), whatever that means, and on OSX 10.9.5

On my new Macbook it is version 9.3 (3128) , El Capitan

The old Macbook receives emails all good no problem

The new one received emails from today but failed to receive yesterday's emails. It's like it receives emails every other day.

I've had nothing but grief installing my email account on the new Macbook. Any advice gratefully received

Both emails accounts are POP

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

I think that is the issue. In a POP account, messages are downloaded to the computer and (by default) removed from the server. If you checked you e-mail on one computer then the second most likely will not get the same messages, as they would have been deleted from the server.

You can easily change this. In Mail->Preferences->Accounts, click Advanced and set it like this:

This will give a one week window for the second machine to also download the same messages.
