Check out your Cellular settings and make sure that they are ON. Tap on Settings > Cellular Data > ON

Check to see that you don’t have any carrier updates pending on your iPhone.

Take out the SIM card and then reinsert it back after 10 seconds.

Finally you can try to reset your Network settings on your iPhone and then give it a try. Tap on Settings > General > Reset Network Settings. Once the device is reset, check and see if your iPhone cellular service is back on

    Hi

It could be a hardware fault try a new simcard from your network provider .

If you still have a problem make an appointment at apple store .

    Cheers

it looks that even restoring ios10 as a new phone from backup did not help. Is apple reading these questions?

I am also experiencing this issue on my iPhone 6, running iOS 10.0.1.   I have already swapped the SIM card, wiped and reset the entire device, reset my network settings.

Currently, Apple support is sending me to a 'Apple Care technician' to have the HW looked at.

This problem started happening in the morning of Sept. 20th, 2016.   I have had two occasions where resetting my 'Network Settings', put my device back on the AT&T network for 5 minutes, then the problem started occurred again, and my phone started 'Searching ...' again, and hasn't stopped.

I suspect this is an iOS 10.0.1 update issue.

I'm having this same issue on my brand new iPhone 7, which I received on September 16th.  Since I was connected to wifi, I didn't even notice the lack of cell connection for ~24 hours, when I had friends tell me they couldn't call.  Right now, I've put my new sim card in my old iPhone 6s (which also has 10.0.1), and it's working fine.

    As for my symptoms:

My iPhone 7 typically says "No Service," but will cycle through "Searching" and "AT&T" with 5 bars and LTE - however, even when connected, can't receive calls/messages/data through cell connection.

    Specs:

    -iPhone 7, 256GB

    -iOS 10.0.1

-PC used for iTunes restore: Lenovo x240, Windows 10, iTunes 12.5.1.21

    -Carrier: AT&T, Washington DC area

    Actions taken:

-4 hours on phone with AT&T, trying every combination of reset/restore/restore from iTunes possible

-1 hour on phone with Apple, walking through same processes; resulted in appointment at Apple Store (that I had to schedule 1 week out...)

Of note, this same issue happened with my girlfriend's iPhone 6 with iOS 10.0.1, but has not been as severe and she normally has a usable cell connection (though her phone will cycle through the "No Service"/"Searching"/"AT&T" status a few times per day).  This started after upgrade to iOS 10.

Will post a follow-up after my appointment.

I think that issue have something to do recognizing cellular tower changes, because when i am not moving it might stay longer in service or network

I have a solution. Turn off LTE Voice.

Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data Options -> Enable LTE -> Data Only.

I'm having the same exact problem. iPhone 5s A1533 with iOS 10, 10.0.1, 10.0.2 and iOS Developer beta 10.1.

Service is T-Mobile. Currently downgraded to 9.3.5 because I can't handle not having service randomly throughout the day.

Here is the issue: randomly throughout the day, my iPhone would lose service and it will stay lost for hours and come back randomly as well. It would either say "Searching..." in the corner or "No Service".

My carrier number on 9.3.5 is T-Mobile 25.1—carrier number on iOS Developer Beta 10.1 was T-Mobile 25.5.

With all these different versions of iOS 10, the issue remains unchanged. The service comes and goes throughout the day as I remain stationary in my apartment. On iOS 9, I have 4 bars of LTE all the time.

Here's a list of things that I have tried that have no effect on the iOS 10 issue:

    • Switching airplane mode on and off
    • Turning the phone on and off
    • Entering DFU mode and restoring to latest version of iOS 10 from iTunes
    • Removing and reseating SIM card while phone is off
    • Removing and reseating SIM card while phone is on
    • Resetting network settings
    • Disabling LTE
    • Disabling Cell data entirely

I talked to T-mobile and they said they're aware of this and they're working with apple to resolve it. I have a feeling it's not a very high priority though, since there's not a whole lot of people complaining about this issue online.

I gave up for the time being and am sticking with iOS 9 until another carrier update or iOS update is released.

Wow, this is serious. In my case it happens with iPhone 7 and Voice over LTE on. I don't think you can even turn that on on iPhone 5s. If you can, try my suggestion of turning it off.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I have no such setting. LTE is a toggle switch on my phone, not an additional menu with various combinations of settings. Below is a screenshot of what I see on my phone. Note from my first message that I've downgraded to 9.3.5 and this screenshot is from that version.

I think your's is a different problem. Sounds like a lot more annoying too. Good luck. Thankfully, ios10 is not a requirement.
