Q: Do I use Mail Rules or Icloud Rules or both?

Which is best to use, Mail Rules or Icloud Rules for Mail? If I create a mail folder in the Icloud account on my Mac it automatically shows up in the webpage for Icloud but Rules written on my Mac are not repeated in the Icloud Rules webpage.

any advice?

You can write more substantial rules in mail on your Mac however if your mac isn't on you can end up with unwanted mail going elsewhere until it is active, this behaviour can be avoided by writing rules at iCloud.com.
