Q: Since last update my iPad not printing to wifi printer

My iPad recognises my wireless printer but since the last upgrade to IOS 10 the printer does not print From it.  However it does take the paper through but just gives out plain paper.  Can someone help please? Many thanks.

Start real simple with a reset. Press and hold the home and power buttons until the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait until your iPad starts on it's own.

If the reset doesn't work reset the wifi router by pulling the plug from the wall outlet.

Also do a test print by copying something to make sure you have enough ink.

TThank you so much! Such a simple thing to do and worked first time.  Now why didn't I think of doing that?!

You're welcome. Can I ask was it the iPad or router reset that worked ? Thank you.

HI Bob. It was the iPad reset which did the trick. Thank you.

Has there ever been an iOS upgrade or update that required (forced or prompted to) you to restart your iPad?

On computers, that step is VERY common, sometimes even for minor updates. My Android fone restarts on its own without fanfare after an update.

BTW, I have just searched Apple articles for the term "reset"... apparently Apple does not use that term for computers or iDevices - but does "some" in WATCH and AppleTV literature (this may have 'slipped by' the Copy Editors)

    I find:

    • restart (what y'all did)
    • restore (to factory settings), in conjunction with
    • erase (and restore to factory)

reset is common parlance for routers, including Apple Airport base stations

    - ReBoot seems to be an interchangeable term in generic literature for both of these actions - the reason that Apple started using the term "restart" lo all those years ago - "Think Different"

Correct. At the end of the update the iPad does what appears to be a forced start, (Reset).

Sometime during my three year career as a iPad fixer upper Apple changed the term from reset to forced start. Or someone finally read the KB article. They can call it what they want. I call it a reset and I fixed lynnfromuk's problem so it's a reset.

    OK, gottit

Since that is the case, it appears that SECOND "reset" does the trick for many problems that appear immediately after an upgrade/update - true?

    That's just weird!

There is a good reason why I've often called resets "iPad magic."

Also updates are good at changing settings. No system sounds ? Check if Mute has been turned on. An icon is reported missing ? See if it has been Restricted.
