Q: Pages

I have just started to use Pages. At the moment I would like it to create invoices. I used the invoice template and made changes so it could be used to bill clients.. I saved it and it seems to work. Once I created a new invoice I print it and close the file.. When I re open it, the invoice I created is there, Is there a way to "save as", then close the invoice so that the next time I open the invoice it is the original invoice as created. I guess the other question would be, can the original invoice I created be locked so any changes I would make would not be saved

thanks much

The way Apple has changed the MacOS since Lion, is when you go command shift s (Save As) it creates a copy which you alter.

This is supposed to stop the original from being written over but Apple also brilliantly made previously saved files auto save, so merely opening the original could mean that it gets resaved. Genius!

You can lock files in Finder by selecting them, command i (Get Info) and clicking on the Lock check box. Then when you open that file you will be forced to do a Save As to duplicate it and rename it.
