Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Community. I know how important it is to keep up on your messages, and I'd like to help get yours working again.
Whenever we see behavior like this after an update, it can help to restart your device, but if you've already done that, or if it does not work, I'd recommend signing out of your Messages settings to make sure you have a good connection to both your wireless carrier and to the iMessage server.
You can sign out by going to Settings > Messages > Send And Receive. Tap on your Apple ID and select "Sign Out". Afterwards, restart your iPhone again and then sign back in.

Sep 21, 2016 3:27 PM in response to 25uRabbitby 25uRabbit,Yes, I have tried both restarting the devices and logging out and back in on all devices using my phone number for iMessage (phone and MacBook Pro). I've also restored to the most recent backup since the update. It appears that iMessage may be working now, but not SMS.
