Do you have a Finder window open?

If not go to File > New Finder Window, you should now have the options to Show/Hide Toolbar and Sidebar.

I get the sidebar and toolbar in the new window. I guess I thought clicking on the Finder icon should open a window. I didn't thing of using the file menu. Thanks.
