Q: My new Seiki Pro 40 doesn't work...help!

I bought a nMP with a D500 graphics card. My main display is the LG UltraWide which works flawlessly. My Seiki Pro (SM40UNP) newly purchased, keeps flashing the same messages (No Video Input) and something about sleep. From the Seiki, I have a Display Port cable from Cable Matters. The Display Port cable is connected to a Mini Display Port adapter, which is connected to the nMP.

I should mention that when I tried connecting my MacBook Air to the Seiki, it works using the same Cable Matters cable. I also tried connecting the nMP to the Seiki using a HDMI cable and that worked and I can get 3480 x 2160, but at 30Hz. I need 60Hz which is where the Display Port cable comes it. The Seiki has DP v1.2.

In the System Pref's, when I bring up Displays, (pictured below), I can "Gather Windows, but the Seiki is still black. For nearly 4 hours, I've tried just about everything.

Does anyone have a clue as to why the Seiki isn't working? The Sourse on the Seiki is set to Display Port 1, which is where the cable is connected. I'm running 10.10.3.

Any info, suggestions, etc...would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Nicholas, just double checking, you are using the display port, correct? Also, I tried several cables and the Cable Matters cable seems to work without issue's. I know others have had problems using other cables. I have the Seiki, you the Philips, so I don't know if the Philips has issue's with the nMP.

Yep, using the display port.  Tried mini display port and display port on the monitor.  The only thing that is kinda working is Display Port at 1.1.  Just ordered some cables matters.  Hopefully that will fix it. Though I have tried thunderbolt cables with no luck as well.

You can't get 60hz with v1.1. It has to be set to 1.2 in order for it to work. Are you sure there's not a problem with the monitor itself?

Imagine... what two buttons did you push to reset the Seiki? Mine is doing the same thing.

    Please let me know...

Hey Maurice, I don't remember what I did. But there are settings where you need to switch to v1.2 in order to get 60Hz.

    Hello!

Don't know if you've tried this: in System Preferences, select Displays. Now for the SM40UNP, for Resolution, select Default for Display. Now, hold down the "Option" key and select "Scaled". You should now hopefully see a drop down menu with multiple resolutions. This is for anything other than 3840x2160. For that just stick with default.

Also, try selecting the "menu" button on the Seiki Pro(farthest left). Check to see that DisplayPort 1 or 2 is selected depending on where you have the cable plugged in. You selection should "lighten" up. Next scroll down to the menu page which allows you to toggle between DP 1.1 and 1.2. Again make sure DP 1.2 is "selelected" before exiting out of that menu screen. Below the "Reset" option, there's an "Information" selection. This will show whether your displaying at 30Hz or 60Hz.  After all this if it's still showing 30Hz, try rebooting. Hope this helps!
