Q: WiFi: No Hardware Installed randomly happening

Every once in a while, I got this WiFi issue. It is not happening permanently though. There are times when the wifi works normally and there are times where it says 'No hardware installed.' I have read the forums and it says its a hardware or software issues. I don't know how to deal with this and I mainly use this for school work purposes. It really ****** me off when I get that issue and I'm in the middle of working my projects. I own an early 2011 Macbook Pro 13' running Mountain Lion. I have also read that the wifi issue is way back the Lion OS and I have no idea if the same applies to Mountain Lion. I have also a defective Bluetooth, says "Bluetooth: Not Available." And just last month, I send my Macbook Pro to iStore for them to fix the hard drive flex and it is very costly for me. Any help would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

    FIXED!

Replace your Airport card with a new one ($30 - $40 ). Just open your Macbook Pro and replace the card.

    Good luck guys!

This problem was an absolute nightmare for me. Have a 4 year old white macbook which worked perfectly except this fault, rendering it pretty useless.

Phoned around 20 different places and in the end I managed to buy a dongle that works perfectly on the latest version of iOS Maverick 10.9.2 for £10.

It is a Dynamode and the model number is WL-700N-RA

Company i boguht it from is here:

So I have had this problem (WIFI not working, "Hardware not installed", WIFI not turning on) for six months and have had to connect my macbook pro to the internet via ethernet cable which as you can image was very restrictive :/

I have had numerous laptop technicans befuddled by this WIFI problem and most concluding with how my WIFI card must be broken and that I will need to buy a new one. The last suggestion I had on the matter was to buy a USB wifi dongle.

So I ended up buying this one, http://www.asus.com/nz/Networking/USBN10_NANO/ Unfortunately my macbook pro didn't want to read the install disc and it didn't autorun so it didn't work. After reading more forums I saw that you could download the program from the net and sure enough it worked.. BUT STRANGER when I took the USB dongle out the WIFI was still working!! The program appears to have reminded my four year old macbook pro that it is indeed WIFI capable.

So to find this miraculous program its located here http://www.asus.com/nz/Networking/USBN10_NANO/HelpDesk_Download/

Same link as above just under SUPPORT>Driver&Tools

You then click on a file when its downloaded and a file called MAC will appear, then click on install. Within 5 minutes you should have your WIFI back. My macbook pro crashed again today but without having to get the shortest ethernet cable you've ever seen out again - I was able to install the program again and WIFI was up and running once more. Moral of the story - didn't need to spend any money to fix this and not even using the USB dongle.

    So happy!!

Just got off the phone with tech and fixed the problem quick:

Turn computer off and plug the charger in.

Press Shift, Control, Option, and the power button all at once, release, and then immediately press the power button again.

The LED on the charger went from red to green to red and the computer rebooted. Problem was solved.

I Bought a Mac book pro with Yosemeti on it this year.

I Really don't know anything about computers so I hope this helps anyone like me!

    Cheers!

That is the fix.  A good article about it on howtogeek.com that I found tonight when mine did it:

I had the same problem and tried all the solutions google could find. I ended up replacing the wifi card, still had the problem, then the wifi cable and now its fine
