Q: How can i buy an unlocked contract-free iPhone 7 Plus in the USA in order to use it in Latinamerica?

I will use a credit card and have someone to have it delivered to,  (she will and bring it to Ecuador), I just don't know what to do with all the carriers-thing. Anyone knows what should I do?

Thanks!!!

I suggest you buy the phone in the country it's going to be used it if for nothing else your warranty will not be honored unless the phone is in the country it was purchased from.

Wouldn't you simply need to buy a SIM card in Ecuador and put it in the phone when you get it?

Since you're paying full price for the phone, you won't need to sign a carrier contract in the USA.

The point above about warranty is a good point though.

Nope... The price here will be stupidly high... i guess around $1500 at least. And as far as I know, the warranty would also be covered here: A few weeks ago a friend of mine bought an iPad in Germany and since it had manufacturing problems they replaced the iPad here for a new one. Hope will be the same with an iPhone

Yep, I know that. The problem is that on the web store you have to choose a carrier before anything else, so there is no "Contract-free" or "unlocked" option

All iPhone 7's purchased at full price are unlocked. But I don't think you can get one from the online store without a carrier activation at this time. You may be able to if you go to a store in person. Normally the first production runs are allocated for carriers. In the past you needed to wait a couple of months to get SIM-free phones that have no carrier affiliation.

Regarding the warranty, the warranty form specifically says that Apple may deny warranty coverage outside of the country of purchase. They don't always, but they do frequently. So your friend was lucky. It may be different for the iPhone 7, because there is only one model that is sold worldwide (except for China), rather than different models for different geographic areas. (The reason for the warranty restriction is the fact that the local service facility may not have the correct model to replace yours.)
