Q: Can´t connect my Iphone to vw carplay

I recently bought a vw E-golf 2016 mod. I have a iphone 6 plus.

I have tried different phones to connect to the carplay.

The iphones that worked: iphone 5, iphone 5s, Iphone 6s and iphone 6s plus.

The appconnect on the car can find my iphone and i try to hit connect. The the car reads the USB and nothing happens afterwards. The difference between my phone and those who work is that they get a popup on their phone where they have to allow the car to connect. I dont get that up.

I also got a error code one time saying: iAP2 NCM Accessory: The connected unit is not supported.

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 10, null

    HI kongenee,

Congratulations on the new car! I understand that you are having some difficulties connecting your iPhone to your car for use with CarPlay. I know it's nice to be able to easily use Siri and listen to music while you drive, so I'm happy to help.

The first thing we'll want to do is make sure that we are connecting to CarPlay correctly. This article will show you how:

Set up CarPlay to use with your iPhone - Apple Support

    Set up and use CarPlay

    1. Make sure that CarPlay supports your car or stereo.
    2. Plug your iPhone into the CarPlay USB port. The USB port might be labeled with a CarPlay icon or a smartphone icon.
If the CarPlay Home screen doesn’t appear, select the CarPlay logo on your car’s display.
    3. Make sure that your car is running.
    4. Ask Siri for what you need. You can do this in a few ways:

      • Press and hold the Home button on your iPhone until Siri appears on your stereo display. Then ask what you need.
      •
      • If your car has one, press and hold the Voice Control button on your steering wheel. Then ask what you need.

    Get help

If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, here’s what you can check. After each step, try using CarPlay again.

    1. Make sure that Siri is turned on.
    2. Restart your iPhone and your car. Depending on your car, you might see the CarPlay Home screen when you turn it on. If you don't, look for the CarPlay logo on your car’s display.
    3. If possible, connect your iPhone to a different USB port in your car.
    4. Try a different Lightning to USB cable. Make sure the cable is certified.
    5. Update to the latest version of iOS.
    6. Check your car’s manual for help. You might need to install firmware updates for your stereo.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!

    Hi Darren,

Thank you for the response and all the helpful tips.

As i said in my original post i have tried with several other phones and they all work.

I have updated to iOS10. Restarted my phone. Someone mentioned resetting my network settings and I did.

Siri is turned on. I have the exact same settings like the other phones i tried. But mine is not working.

The car can find my phone under Appconnect. But when i try to connect i dont get up any message on my phone saying that i have to allow the car to connect. This message comes up for all those who it works on.
