Q: iCloud Sync Limitations

I have two issues (so far)

1. I have sync'd the Desktop and Documents folders on my MacBook Pro, but I can't on my iMac because (to quote the error message) "You have too many files, too many files in a single folder, or too many nested folders in your Documents or Desktop folders."

I have plenty of iCloud capacity by the way, having upgraded in advance.

Does anyone know what the limitations are or where to find out?

2. What happens if you have identically named folders on two Macs and try to sync the second one?  e.g. if you have the same software installed on both machines you might have a Documents/Adobe folder on each for example.  If a folder is renamed automatically, I fear that it could affect the application next time it's run.

macOS Sierra (10.12), null

For your first question, I'm not sure what the limitations are but what if you were to move some items out of those folders and subfolders?  Would that then allow you to then sync your documents easily?

Thank you.  Yes, I will probably have to do that anyway although the task is not a small one.  However it would be far better to aim at a level that was properly specified rather than have to do it by trial an error.  Apple must know what the limitations are.  They just aren't very good at pointing them out.

Also there are 3 possible problems and the error message is non specific.  I don't have many files on my Desktop, but if I have 'too many' to sync in my Documents folder and I want them there, it seems that iCould Sync is underpowered for me.  It's a shame, but maybe I should just use DropBox or OneDrive until Apple upgrades this to something really useful.

Yeah, that's what I use as well as Google Drive.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
