Q: problem syncing iPod touch with iTunes

Hi, I have been having a problem syncing my iPod touch with iTunes. I get a message indicating that there is not enough free space to hold items in the iTunes library, indicating that i need approx 43 GB.

I have tried taking as much data files off my laptop thinking that this would make more space available for my iTunes library held on my laptop.

I had a problem some time with the storing of data files and program files. I have split the hard drive and have a Macintosh HD 2 as well as a main HD drive. I note that i have an iTunes library in both HD drives, so I think I am holding a duplicate library.

My iTunes application shows that I have a music library size of 33.40GB containing 6940 items. My iPod touch has 6920 songs, 33 videos, 15 photos, and 14 apps. The capacity of the iPod touch is 56,4 GB, with 2.8 GB available.

If the problem is the duplication of library, do I remove duplicate track from HD2, and how do I amend the settings tp prevent further duplication.

Duplication of audio content seems to be a concern for you. If you have a desktop Mac, open iTunes/Library/Show Duplicate Items. You can view and edit tracks easily.

If you don't have a desktop Mac, the issue is a bit thornier; there's no way to detect duplicate mp3 except manually.

The good news is that the biggest part of your data bloat is likely to be in the 33 videos. I'd archive most of the videos and see what happens. (I banished ALL videos from my iPod Touch, and I couldn't believe how much space I had.)
