Q: #images are dissapeared from Messages

Hi All,

Updated to IOS10 and enjoyed #images standard app for Messages where you able to search and send animated pics, etc.

By overnight - this #images feature is disappeared from Messages on my eyes. I opened Messages, wanted to search and send some animated pic, so swiped to it - and it`s disappeared.

Don`t see it in Manage section, can`t find it at App store.

My friend, that updated to IOS10 at the same time - still have it and no issue.

The same happened to my wife`s Iphone - by morning she was not able to see it anymore as well.

What happened? Any way to restore it?

Any help appreciated,

IPhone 6, 64gb

Thanks,

iPhone 6, iOS 10

    Greetings, Geeengstaaa!

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!  I see from your post that you're having trouble using the #images feature in Messages, after having used it right after upgrading to iOS 10.  You were definitely on the right track looking in "Store" and "Manage"!  You should normally see #images there in "Manage", though, so I'm happy to help figure out what's happening.

Could Restrictions have been turned on accidentally on your iPhones?  If you go to Settings > General > Restrictions, you can see if they are "On" or "Off".  Enabling restrictions, then disabling "Installing Apps" will keep you from using #images if it has been removed.  The steps I mentioned here (and more info about #images) are available in this Apple Support document:

Use #images with Messages in iOS 10

Have a great rest of your day!

    Hi and thanks for reply.

Yes, Restrictions were enabled on my Iphone.

I disabled it and checked is #images are available to be returned within Manage section of Messages - and they are still gone.

I tried to re-boot device and no result.

Also tried to search AppStore to get it back and no luck.

    AppStore is Canadian region,

    Any ideas?

Thank you for getting back to us about this, Geeengstaaa!  I'm sorry to hear it's still happening even after you turned off Restrictions, though.

Do you have a recent backup of your iPhone?  This document will help you make that happen:  How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Once you have a good backup, please try resetting all your iPhone's settings to see if your #images option comes back.  This will not erase any of your personal data, but it will erase settings like Wallpaper, Sounds, Display & Brightness, and Background App Refresh.  It will remove all of your previously used Wi-Fi networks and passwords, so make sure you have those available before you do the reset.  It also removes your Touch ID & Passcode, so you will need to set those up again, if you currently use them.  Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.  The steps can also be found here in the iPhone User Guide: Reset iPhone settings

    Have a great day!
