iCloud Drive
Note
Migrating to iCloud Drive will disable Documents & Data syncing for your iCloud account on OS X Mavericks and earlier Macs, as well as iOS 7 and earlier devices.
Just don't shoot the messenger.
You might try using Dropbox for getting those documents out to those that need them.

Sep 21, 2016 9:25 AM in response to sparktorontoby flash7gordon,I upgraded my Mac to Sierra (it should say macOS Sierra, Version 10.12) and my iphone to iOS 10 and I would say the Collaboration results are fantastic (you have to upgrade you Mac to Sierra and a lot of people aren't just going to do that, it's a full desktop OS upgrade). With Dropbox and Google Drive I would say that the syncing between devices is terrible. I had an important Word file and with both google and dropbox I had to go to the web app only, delete the old file, then add the new file on the web app only or the latest version would never get to the other devices. Sometimes even that wouldn't work and I had rename the file to get it to show on the cloud drive. To just go to the cloud drive for google and dropbox and double click the file to edit in word? You must be dreaming. But this new iCloud Drive collaboration is fantastic. I moved a few of my key documents to Apple Pages and the results were outstanding. Not only do changes made anywhere show up immediately on any other device (what I would expect from a cloud drive) but I accidentally left one of my Pages file open on my Mac, went into the house to see if my iphone showed the latest version (my wireless isn't that good near my mac). I went back to my mac and the pages changes I put in from my iphone were sitting in my Mac editing session for the same Pages files. Congratulations Apple, you have exceeded my expectation and finally made cloud drives work simply and intuitively.

Sep 21, 2016 10:04 AM in response to flash7gordonby flash7gordon,I want to clarify something I said above. The Word file was a password protected Word file. Google and Dropbox for me work pretty well if you are talking simple text files. But my experience was, once you got into more complex file types, Google and Dropbox couldn't accomplish the syncing between devices for more complex file types. It was almost laughable. I felt like I had a unique, dated version of this key word file on each device.
