Q: Please remind me of the command line for connecting to a remote computer. Thanks

I am looking to recall how to write the command line in X11 in OSX to connect to a remote terminal. Is it -xterm name of remote terminal?

If you want a shell session on a remote computer, generally you would start Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal, and then use the ssh command

    ssh username@address.of.remote.compuer

You would not need X11 for that.

X11 tends to be used so you can have a remote Unix GUI app display its output on your Mac.  For example:

    ssh -X username@address.of.remote.computer

    Password:

    xclock

The -X establishes an X11 tunnel between the remote computer and your Mac.  'xclock' would display a clock on your Mac using X11 on your Mac (assuming you have installed X11 or XQuartz).
