Q: Newly upgraded to 12.5.1.21, majority of artist thumbnails missing

Why can't they just add the search feature to the Get Album Art search process, would save so much grief.

Seems to be the way with iTunes now, they release more and more new features and break the old working ones.  I just wish they would give us a stable release.

Three remarks:

(1) How could/why would anyone think that this new format is an improvement?

(2) What is possible and what is probably are not the same thing.

(3) Some comments utterly astound me.

Totally UNACCEPTABLE!

Have the same issue, don't think it maters if they are purchased through iTunes or not. I have some stuff that was purchased through iTunes that are not showing artist thumbnails and I have stuff that was not purchased from iTunes that is showing thumbnails.

Pretty **** annoying since they were showing in the previous version for almost all of the artist purchased from iTunes or not.

This update is very buggy. After I search for an artist in the iTunes store, album and song icons appear, but when I hover my mouse over the first album, for example, the play icon appears for the next album on the list. So if I click on album 1, album 2 will play. Same thing happens with songs...

I Have purchased music which STILL has the absolutely hideous rainbow microphon.  Now I've made the mistame of upgrading to IOS 10 on my phone, and now the music on that looks like s**t.   I really hope this is fixed soon, because I am a very unhappy customer.

same problem under windows 10 using itunes 12.5.1.21

before, with 12.4, my screen was the same "i am DaveH" show higher

Technical support is trying to help me but it doesn't work:

- I've tried to uninstall itunes and reinstall it in same directory. All albums are with artwork but artist artwork is switched with microphone on rose-blue background

- in preferences, automatic download is selected for all media, and itunes organisation in itunes media directory is selected too

- change to a new librabry as it is described at Open a different iTunes Library file or create a new one - Apple Support  doesn't work

A new version of itunes without this "bug" is URGENT !!!

... but uninstall 12.5 and reinstall 12.4 allows artist artwork to be back.... but it's really not the solution

What I have finally done to fix this absolutely horrid issue is:

Downgrade IOS 10 on my iPhone 6 to version 9.3.5

Uninstall iTunes 12.5.1 on my Windows 7 desktop PC

Downloaded and installed iTunes 12.4.3.1 on PC

Copied old music library file from C:\Users\Shelley\My Music\iTunes\Previous iTunes Libraries\iTunes Library 2016-09-15.itl (the last file created before I upgraded) and overwrote new library file in directory C:\Users\Shelley\My Music\iTunes

It was quite a bit of work, but everything is back to the way it was, all of my artists have their pictures back instead of that hideous microphone, so now I'm very happy.  Every time my phone downloads IOS 10, I delete it.  I don't want this crap on my phone/PC until this rainbow icon issue is fixed!!!!
