Q: Predictive emojis not working

I recently updated to ios10 on my iphone6. After doing so I was checking out the changes and searched on the internet for changes as well. One I saw was predictive emojis. Unfortunately I cannot get them to work. I have done all the suggestions I found; turn off/on predictive keyboard, reset keyboard, delete/add keyboards but none of those solved my problem.

I can get the emojis to highlight the words if I tap the emoji icon but the words don't bring up the emoji in the predictive text bar.

Has anyone found an answer to this? I know it's not just me as I did a search and found others with the problem. Most of them were unsuccessful in getting the mentions solutions to work for them.

iPhone 6, iOS 10

I have the exact same problem - im on a 6S and upgraded yesterday.

My wife who also has a 6S upgraded and her predictive emojis are working perfectly.

I'Ve tried resetting the phone, deleting emoji dictionary and resetting dictionaries as suggested online but hasn't made any difference.

Seems like many people have the issue, a response from Apple would be appreciated

Yes, it does seem to be a common problem with no apparent solution. It's interesting your phone doesn't work while your wife's does. Hopefully Apple will fix the bug and provide an update (which inevitably will have bugs of it's own). All in all it's a bug I can live with. I was just interested in testing the feature.

Those don't address the problem. The emojis are supposed to show up in the predictive text bar above the keyboard so you don't have to select the emoji keyboard but they aren't showing up. Google the problem and you will see it is widespread. Thanks anyway for trying to help. If I select the emojis keyboard the words that have emojis highlight and I can select the emoji that way.

I just like knowing everything works the way it is supposed to work.

I have been trying to fix this problem too today after updating my phone. My Daughter's phone worked straight away.

The solution finally, after trying all the reset options and turning keybords etc on and off was this.

I sent myself and my daughter multiple messages using emoticons by selecting them as I did before the update. Mostly nonsensical random emoticons. Did this for several long txt messages.

The phone then figured out I like to use emoticons and started suggesting them in the predictive line.  Fixed! Hope that helps someone else as it was starting to get me a little cross!

I had the same problem and this fix worked. i sent muliple text messages of just emojis and it then the emoji's started showing up within predictive texts.

See Callyoz post in this thread.

DL (Deep Learning) knows you want to use emoji after you've sent some and it will offer them in predictive text bar.

    Note: Not everyone uses emojis

I will try this to see if it works. Now to find someone who will put up with gibberish texts full of emojicons.
