Q: Invalid response was received from Device

Now that I updated my 6plus to iOS 10 my phone will not connect to my macbook pro. I get a error message stated "iTunes could not connect to iPhone because invalid response was received from device". I removed passcode and fingerprint, restarted phone, restarted macbook, and still not working.

    Hi kcampagna8,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We're sorry to hear that you are having this issue with your iPhone. If you are getting an error message with "invalid response" when trying to connect to iTunes, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

    Check your USB connections

If you see error 4005, 4013, or 4014, learn what to do. If you see one of the errors below, you might have a USB connection issue:

    • 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650
    • 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009
    • An error message that includes, "invalid response"

Use these steps to see if the issue is with your USB cable, USB port, or computer. Try again after each step:

    1. Use the USB cable that came with your device. If you don't have it, try a different Apple USB cable.
    2. Switch to a different USB port on your computer. Don't plug into your keyboard.
    3. Plug into a different computer.
    4. If you still see the error, you can check for other USB issues, issues with third-party security software, and issues with hardware.

If the issue continues, contact Apple Support.

I have the same problem. Grrr. Maybe because I have OS10.7.5 but don't want to update because then none of my older products will work. My old iPad and and iPod don't upgrade to OS10 and they still work with iTunes. So it makes me mad that Apple does this.

You are correct about OS 10.7.5. For a device with iOS 10, you need the latest version of iTunes, 12.5.1, which needs OS X 10.9.5 or higher.
