Sep 22, 2016 3:11 PM in response to randychmmby JM1000,I've ended up carrying the jack adaptor around and using my old 3.5mm equipped iPhone headphones for this exact reason. I wonder if the next MacBooks will have a lightning connector or more likely a USB-c adaptor for us to use them? Seems silly to create a situation where headphones can't be moved between devices, im certainly not carrying 2 pairs around if I can avoid it.

Sep 28, 2016 8:30 AM in response to randychmmby Property,Ideally what we need is a cable (or dock) that has a male USB connector on one end and a female Lightning connector on the other, so that the Lightning EarPods can get digital source sound from the Mac (via the Mac's USB port). This way the EarPods can use the DAC already built into them to convert the audio to analog. It will sound better. I have noticed that the Lightning EarPods sound better when plugged into the iPhone via Lightning than the standard EarPods with 3.5 mm jack sound. I hope Apple either develops the necessary accessory so we can use Lightning EarPods directly in the Mac, or adds a Lightning port to the Mac.
